Alexander Gamayunov

Alexander began dancing in 1982, taking ballroom dancing lessons until 1985.  He then started training with the National Ballet School of Ukraine in Kyiv in 1985.  He was with the Kyiv Ballet Company from 1993 and was a Principal Dancer when he left in 2001.

He holds a Masters Degree for teaching and choreography, which he received from the National University of Culture and Art in 1999. 

 

Alexander joined Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 2001.  During his first season with the RWB he performed the role of  ‘Edouard’ in Nutcracker, ‘Prince Charmant’ in The Sleeping Beauty and Peasant Man in Giselle.  He finished the season performing lead roles in Mark Godden’s Miroirs and Mauricio Wainrot’s smash hit Carmina Burana.  In September of 2002 Alexander was a soloist in the world premier of John Cripton and Brian MacDonald’s REQUIEM 9/11 at Ottawa’s National Arts Centre.
